Before you start

Measure your area.
Prepare your estimate.

A practical guide to approximate work area, ground conditions and access. Gather what you can; we confirm the details before quoting hydroseeding or hydromulching.

Measure the ground.
Not the whole lot.

The useful number is the area you want treated. A property listing may include the house, driveway and other surfaces that do not need an application.

An approximate area helps us understand the scale of the request. It does not establish the final price or confirm coverage.

For a simple rectangular area

Multiply the length in feet by the width in feet. A lawn 40 feet long and 60 feet wide is approximately 2,400 square feet. Use the same units for both measurements.

For several separate rectangular areas, calculate each area and add them. Exclude buildings, paved surfaces and ground you do not want treated. If the shape is irregular or the dimensions are uncertain, explain that in your notes.

Using the map
in your estimate.

The optional map lets you locate the property and outline one work area on aerial imagery. Confirm you have the correct address before drawing. Follow the ground you want treated, then review the outline and approximate square footage before adding it to the enquiry.

Keep the limitations in mind

  • Imagery may be out of date or unclear around trees and buildings.
  • The outline is not a survey or a legal property boundary.
  • The map does not confirm service coverage or a final quote.
  • If the map is unavailable or the shape is difficult to draw, enter an approximate area manually and explain any uncertainty.

Only include land you are authorised to discuss. We confirm the application area before quoting.

Useful details
to have ready.

No specialist report is needed to send the form. Describe what you can see and what you want to change.

See how the estimate works
Location and service
The project street address, ZIP and Dallas–Fort Worth or Houston metro. Tell us whether it is a residential lawn or commercial site.
Current ground conditions
Describe bare ground, existing vegetation, debris, slopes or places where water collects. Do not start clearing or grading solely to complete the enquiry.
Access and water
Note gates, narrow access, fencing or other restrictions. For a new lawn, tell us about the available water source so aftercare can be discussed.
Plans and timing
Tell us about other work that affects the ground and any target dates. Do not include payment details, identity documents or private access codes in the notes.

Preparation is
property specific.

For residential lawn planning, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension identifies site and soil preparation, grass selection and establishment care as parts of the process. That is why we ask about the actual ground rather than prescribing one preparation or watering schedule for every property.
